The Bureau of Local Government Finance is the Department of Finance’s arm in supervising the revenue generation and resource mobilization activities of LGUs. It develops policies on local financial operations, monitors the implementation of these policies, and evaluates the impacts of these policies to the financial climate of LGUs as well as their contribution to national development. As such, it has to ensure that LGUs are financially sustainable to be able to deliver the basic services required of them by their respective constituents.
In line with the said mandate, an Oathtaking of Appointed Local Treasurers and Assistant Local Treasurers with the Secretary of Finance was conducted on 17 August 2017.
The said event was participated by five(5) Provincial Treasurers, two(2) Assistant Local Treasurers, three(3) City Treasurers, three(3) Assistant City Treasurers, twenty five(25) Municipal Treasurers and six(6) Assistant Treasurers.
Undersecretary Antonette C. Tiongco of the Revenue Operations Group represented the Secretary of Finance, Hon. Carlos G. Dominguez. The activity reinforces the mandate of Local Treasurers and Assistant Local Treasurers as local finance managers and leaders within their respective LGUs.
