As part of its mandate to exercise administrative and technical supervision and coordination over the treasury and assessment operations of local government units (LGUs), the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), through its training arm Capacity Building Division (CBD), conducted two (2) batches of trainings on the Examination of Books of Accounts (EBA) and Pertinent Records of Business Owners on 5-9 August 2019 at Cebu Grand Hotel, Cebu City.
The training is aimed to enhance the set of skills and knowledge of the local treasurers and increase their basic understanding of the principles and techniques in the conduct of examination of books, accounts and other pertinent records of any person, partnership, corporation or association subject to local taxes, fees and charges. Topics discussed were prevention of tax loss due to under declaration of gross receipts and enhancement of revenue generation activities of local government units (LGUs) to attain fiscal sustainability, among others.
The three-day training sessions were participated by the provincial, city and municipal treasurers and assistant treasurers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao regions and provided an open and participatory venue to exchange ideas in order to improve their revenue generation capabilities and attain fiscal sustainability of their respective LGUs.
