Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), through Deputy Executive Director Jose Arnold M. Tan presented the Proposed Real Property Valuation Reform under Package 3 of the Comprehensive Tax Reform (CTRP) during the 2nd General Assembly of the League of the Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) at the Manila Hotel on 18 October 2019.

Director Tan succinctly discussed the benefits of the reform to the local governments, especially that of the provinces. During the discussion, apprehensions were raised by LPP on the local autonomy of the LGUs in the schedule of market values (SMVs).

The assembly provided an open venue to the stakeholders to elevate their concerns on the Proposed Real Property Valuation Reform. Nonetheless, LPP issued a support statement for the Package on the 17th Congress, “The League of Provinces of the Philippines is in full support of the said legislative measure to ensure a more progressive and regular assessment and valuation of real property”.

Senator Francis Tolentino guaranteed the deliberation of Package 3 in 17th Congress, “I do hope the consensus of the League will be taken into consideration. Package 3 will be triggered next year”.
