The Bureau of Local Government Finance through Executive Director Niño Raymond B. Alvina and Director Ma. Pamela P. Quizon, participated in the Exchange of Good Practices on Decentralization (EGPD) in Paris and Bordeaux, France held from 08-12 October 2018.

EGPD is a study tour hosted by the Agence Française de Développement’s (AFD) devised to allow discussion on the subjects encompassing the decentralization process – tax assignments, expenditure responsibilities, intergovernmental transfers and grants, inter-local government cooperation and alliances, territorial restructuring, financing of infrastructure objects, public-private partnerships, public service delivery mechanisms, trainings, among others. Ensuing the study tour, delegates have brought new perspectives as to examining the country’s initiative to improve fiscal decentralization policies.

The five-day study tour was also participated by the high officials of other concerned agencies. The Department of Finance Undersecretary Bayani H. Agabin as the head of the Philippine delegation, reminded the participants that the main objective of decentralization process in the Philippines is to foster inclusive growth and improve the lives of the Filipino people.
