The Bureau of Local Government Finance, through the Executive Director Niño Raymond B. Alvina, was invited together with Department of Finance (DOF) Undersecretary Antonette C. Tionko, by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Korea Development Institute (KDI) – School of Public Policy and Management to participate in an international seminar last 27-30 August 2018.

The international seminar was designed to materialize concrete actions and solutions to narrow down the Role of Management for Development Results (MfDR) towards the Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs) progress. The SDGs comprises of 17 internationally agreed global goals set by the United Nations (UN) to be achieved in the year 2030, dubbed as the 2030 Agenda. In particular, Goal 11 and Goal 16 – make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable and; promote peaceful and inclusive sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels. ED Niño Raymond B. Alvina have noted that sustainable local domestic resource mobilization, effective local financial management, and good fiscal governance are essential in public service delivery.

Likewise, the seminar opened up opportunities for further discussions as some organization expressed interest in the state of local fiscal management of the Philippines.
